History of St Werburghs

Being constructed directly on the grounds of the original dye works factory, this development is set to transform the neighbourhood of St Werburghs. Centred around the former factory’s iconic nineteenth-century chimney — which, once upon a time, housed the Brooks Laundry that ran for around 135 years — the grounds of this Bristolian landmark have remained derelict since its 2007 closure. The factory’s most distinguished services included cleaning the linen of the American military during the Second World War until this family-run factory went on to offer dry cleaning services to the general public. With the aim of bringing this historic location back to life, Brooks Dye Works certainly aims to do justice to the noticeable history that serves here.
